A Roadmap to Health and Vitality Through Optimum Nutrition for Life

Logo of Centered Healing, an Acupuncture center in NE Portland, Oregon

Are you ready to take charge of your health through how you feed yourself?

These may sound familiar…

Do you wake feeling groggy and sluggish?

Energy slumps throughout the day?

Fed up of the headaches or brain fog?

Bloated and uncomfortable no matter how healthy you eat?

Bowel movements all over the place?

Stubborn extra pounds despite all your efforts?

Aches and pains getting you down?

Dreading each menstrual cycle?

Peri-menopause or Menopause kicking your ass?

Acne or itchy skin?

You know your diet has something to do with how you feel, and you would like to eat better, but life is too busy to really figure it out let alone start.

And there’s so much information out there! Often conflicting information.

Who should you trust, and what’s going to work for you?

You’re ready to find a solution, because you want…

  • The energy to show up for relationships and your loved ones
  • To enjoy socializing and vacations without worrying about looking pregnant after a meal, or urgent bathroom runs
  • Your skin to look great for that next date, and your body to feel free of aches and pains
  • To stop needing days off work, canceling plans or bailing on a meeting because your period pains or migraines put you in bed, or that hot flash just derailed you
  • To age gracefully and enjoy your life fully with good health and vitality

Centered Healing Nutrition will change how you feed yourself for life, with results that last.

Experience Life Changing Nutrition

Hundreds of our patients, their friends, family members, colleagues and acquaintances have completed Centered Healing Nutrition over the past 15 years.

The words we most frequently hear are, “it was life changing.”

“I didn’t want to miss the chance to tell you how much I absolutely loved your program. It has truly changed the way I eat—for good. Months later, I still find myself reaching for your manual more than any of my cookbooks.”

“As I sit here eating my delicious breakfast, I just wanted to make sure you know how much I enjoyed the course and what a lasting impact it’s had on me.”

“This program is truly excellent and life changing!”

“Helen’s methodology has changed the way I will forever approach my nutrition.”

“The information from this program has really changed our lives. We continue to refer to the manual for recipes and healthy eating tips. My husband and I are in retirement, and we now feel set for life!”

Nourishment as a Way of Life

The word DIET originally comes from the Greek word diata, which means “way of living” or “way of life.”

Centered Healing Nutrition is not a diet in the modern association of unsustainable restriction. It can become your way of life.

There is no weighing or measuring your food, counting calories or macros. There’s no smoothies, juicing, meal replacement bars, or supplements. Just real, whole, nutrient dense, delicious, nourishing food that supports your physiology and optimum health.

It’s a methodology of eating that will change how you feel on a daily basis, and your approach to how you feed yourself, forever.

What if your diet, your way of living, could:

  • Reduce inflammation so that aches and pains diminish, and your skin clears up
  • Balance blood sugar so that energy and mood is stable and sugar cravings fade
  • Optimize digestion and establish a healthy gut microbiome so that digestive issues resolve
  • Strengthen your immunity so you get sick less often
  • Balance hormones so that PMS and your menses is no longer a dread, and symptoms of Perimenopause and Menopause wane
  • Optimize metabolism so that you establish a healthy weight
  • Improve your sleep quality
  • And gave you a practical, sustainable and DELICIOUS way to feed yourself

Hundreds of people of all ages with a wide diversity of health complaints and health goals have gone through the program over the past 15 years.

They have proven that it lays the foundation for healing no matter what you are suffering from or aiming to achieve.

Food as medicine and cooking to feed the health and soul of the family is her passion. In 2000, after traveling in Asia she contracted Giardia which left her with a host of digestive issues that ultimately became IBS. It was a 5 year battle with gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea and uncontrollable sugar cravings that equipped her with the personal experience to lead others to health through nutrition.

With a Masters in Chemistry and 20 years in the field of Chinese Medicine, she blends eastern wisdom with the latest scientific research to create a methodology of eating that guides people out of the confusion of how to eat for health and vitality, in a sustainable way year round.

Helen’s goal is to educate and empower individuals to take an active role in their healing process and the prevention of disease through an optimum diet. To this end, she has led hundreds of individuals through her uniquely designed group program over the past 15 years that numerous past participants have described as life changing.

Is this program right for you?

This program provides a sustainable healthy plan which is suitable for most people.

Several aspects make this program unique (that you will learn in the process). Some basics:

  • It is based on Chinese Medicine principles; a warming, cooked diet that supports the digestive fire and our metabolism; salads and smoothies are not included
  •  We eat delicious, nourishing, nutrient dense meals that are prepared and formulated in specific ways such that they are easy to digest; our body receives the nutrients it needs to operate optimally whilst giving the digestive system a break. This frees up the body’s resources to support the systems of detoxification, cellular repair, endocrine regulation and immune function without the need for supplements, meal replacement “foods” or calorie restriction
  • Unlike popular diets in vogue such as the Paleo or Keto diet, this diet is balanced. We eliminate the inflammatory foods but aside from dairy, no one food group is absent. Animal protein and fish, non glutinous grains and legumes are all included, however the program is mostly plant based and accommodates vegans and vegetarians or those wishing to follow a low grain diet.
  • You will be guided and supported throughout. Feedback from past participants is that the structure, the classes, the manual and the group participation provides a very informative, engaging, supportive and fun learning environment. Helen is very hands on and dedicated to the success of each individual in the best outcome for them. This is not a cookie cutter method!

The program content is 6 weeks; two weeks to prep (gather supplies, shop and cook food for the freezer) and to begin reducing intake of coffee, alcohol, sugar plus dietary adjustments. This transition period prepares you for following the ensuing 21 day eating plan.

You will have access to the content hub for 8 weeks; 6 modules of instructional videos and PDF summaries. 7 weekly live coaching calls occur on Tuesdays 5-6pm PST. If you are unable to attend live, you may send questions ahead of time and recordings will be available. You will have 2 individual coaching sessions during the program, a 45 minute orientation call and a 30 minute check in half way through the program. Regular engagement in the private community group is highly recommended for additional communication, support and guidance.

Yes. Neither gluten or dairy are included on the program.

Absolutely. The majority of the diet is plant based. Eggs, chicken and fish are included in the diet for those that eat them (and for some particular individuals grass fed lamb or wild game may be recommended), but it is your choice which recipes you choose within the meal plans. There are plenty of legume or non glutinous grain based dishes for those that don’t eat animal protein.

Yes! However for certain conditions, some amendments are made. This will be discussed during your initial one on one consult if or as needed.

This program is not for someone who is not ready or willing or able to make the time to prioritize their health for 6 weeks. Neither is it for someone who just wants an intellectual experience to learn more about nutrition.

Knowledge is empowering, but it’s only when you take action steps and experience the process that the knowledge produces a transformation. The goal is to see you transformed with the practical experience of how to apply this to your life moving forward.

Most definitely! This is a very balanced, nutrient dense yet very easy to digest diet that will support optimum health for conception and also remove blocks to fertility.

From a dietary perspective, very much so!! It will provide your body with the optimum nutrition to regain your vitality postpartum and help your body produce the most nutritious milk for your little one. Whether it is practically doable for you will depend on your individual circumstances, such as do you have other young children and how much support do you have at home for grocery shopping, preparing meals and clean up! The program does require that you have additional time to carve out above your current daily demands. I have first hand experience of those years with my children born 13 months apart. Reach out to me if you’d like to discuss how it might be doable for you.

Those that have weight to lose will lose weight and those that don’t will lose very little. The body is intelligent. There is no measuring or weighing portion sizes; eating mindfully is the emphasis, not calorie counting. A little weight loss is inevitable at the beginning because as inflammation subsides, the body holds onto less water. The program also facilitates a gentle detoxification of the toxins that are primarily stored in fat cells and some weight loss will occur as these are liberated. Those of slim build tend to lose at the most a few pounds, and re-gain it beyond, but it will be a healthier body mass that is regained.

Migraines can be unique to the individual in their root cause, but what migraine sufferers find by doing this program is that they identify many of the dietary and lifestyle triggers that contribute to the intensity and frequency of their migraines. With the foundation of healthy nutrition providing signifiant relief from constant migraines, they then have the energy and motivation to make individual adjustments that will provide the further support they need. Saying that, some people have found complete resolution from migraines following this program.

To succeed with the program, you do need to be able to carve out time to shop and cook beyond what you currently do, and to watch the recorded lessons and attend the live coaching call on a weekly basis. Each module contains approximately 30-40 minutes of video tutorials and PDF summaries. Including the one hour weekly coaching call, expect to spend an hour and a half to two hours a week on the material.

The first two weeks are important prep time when you will cook dishes that freeze well. This is a very helpful step in getting you set up for success. We will be cooking in big batches and storing half in the freezer. You are going to be spending more time in the kitchen but you’ll learn how to be efficient and productive with it. None of the recipes are complicated.

My rough estimate is to expect to spend around 3-4 hours a week cooking during weeks 3 to 6. During the first 2 weeks of preparation and lead in, expect to spend a bit more than that.

During your one on one orientation call we discuss what you may be able to let go of or delegate so that you can prioritize your health for the 6 weeks of the program.

Part of the program includes simple self-care and stress reducing practices to support our bodies during the process. Some people may opt to do just the basics and others may delve more deeply into these practices. If you’re following the basic core self-care, you’ll only need 30 minutes a day.

Some short cuts can be made by those that can spend money on certain products available at the store that others may choose to learn to make themselves at home much more affordably. I find that two key reasons that people do not support their health with good nutrition is that either they do not know where to start, or they do not have or make time. If you are ready to make time for your health, this program is here to guide and support you with structure and a method that will support your health for life.

The feedback from past participants is that they feel such a noticeable difference in their symptoms and energy levels that they have no desire to go back to their previous way of eating. You learn that eating well does take time and effort but you experience how worth it it is. Many people report how often they go back to the manual months and years later.  The 6 week program itself could be referred to as “nutrition boot camp”. It would not be sustainable, nor necessary, to follow the program 100% year round to sustain good health. But many people recognize certain principles that they learnt have a significant impact on how they feel on a daily basis and are motivated to stick to the adjustments they made on going. Every year, at least 50% of the participants are repeat participants, doing it for the 3rd, 4th or even 5th time, not because they did not get enough the first time, but because they learnt so much and felt so well, as well as enjoying the group experience. The feedback from your body is undeniable.

Accountability and Support Systems

The program includes two individual sessions, live weekly group coaching calls, and a community group for questions and discussion

This level of support, guidance, accountability and community are a unique aspect of this program. We want to set you up for success.

Feedback we commonly receive is “what you teach just makes so much sense.”

Centered Healing Nutrition clears up a lot of confusion and overwhelm around how to feed yourself an optimum diet.

With so much information on social media and the internet, and various popular bio-hacking trends that have not stood the test of time, often offered by unqualified people, there is a lot of conflicting information. To the undiscerning eye, everything sounds convincing.

You could lose time and money:

    • Investing $1000’s on supplements that don’t produce results
    • Spending months, or years, trying to figure things out with trial and error
    • Wasting time and money on appointments with dietitians. Just a handful of consults could set you back $1500

Or you could invest in:

    • A proven, validated, dietary methodology
    • Expert guidance, support and accountability
    • A roadmap to practical implementation of a system that has demonstrated excellent and consistent results in a wide variety of health conditions over 15 years
    • Long term benefits that continue well beyond the program

You can be reassured that Centered Healing Nutrition is valued at 10x your investment.
